Late Fall '24 Kids' Studio -Tuesdays

Service Description

In this 6-week class, kids ages 8 and up will learn hand building techniques of pinching, coiling and slab construction to make decorative Holiday pieces!! During one of the classes, students will be introduced to wheel throwing and make a few pots on the pottery wheels that they can give as gifts this holiday season! Once completed, all pieces will be bisque fired in the kiln and then students will learn how to apply glazes to their pottery. One more kiln firing and pieces will be ready to take home! All materials and firings are included in class fee. Kids are encouraged to wear play clothes to the pottery studio and are welcome to bring water bottles or other drinks. Kids' Studio Tuesdays meet from 3:30-5:30. Note: Class will not meet 11/26. Instructor: Robin McGuirt Robin is an accomplished potter who lives in Harmony, NC with her husband, 2 dogs, sheep, chickens and bees. She works from her home studio, making primarily wheel thrown pieces. Robin has been making pottery for over 20 years and her favorite pieces to make are wine glasses and custom wedding and communion sets. She has shown her work at the Bascom in Highlands, NC, the Smart Gallery in W Jefferson and at GG's here in Statesville. Robin has shared her love of pottery with her children and now her grandchildren and looks forward to working with our Kids' Studio Classes!!
